KIDS SPEAK: An opportunity for youth to be heard

Teens across the state are invited to apply as speakers for the 2010 KIDS SPEAK public forum. Sponsored by South Dakota Voices for Children, the event features seven students who have been selected to speak to a panel of public officials and community leaders. The forum is set for 10 a.m. CDT Friday, April 30 at the Sioux Falls Best Western Ramkota Hotel. Click here for the application.

The KIDS SPEAK 2010 topic is: "School wellness - Putting policy into practice: How can students create a healthier school environment?"

Speakers will tailor a 10-minute presentation to that topic. Mileage and lodging will be paid for those students chosen to speak. Complete information is posted on the South Dakota Voices for Children Web site: www.sdvoicesforchildren.org. It is also available by e-mail at office@sdvoicesforchildren.org or by calling 605 367-9667.

Applications must be postmarked by Monday, March 15 or returned the same date in person or by fax (typewritten applications only) to 605 335-3836.

Statewide representation and topic focus will be considered in the selection of speakers. Applicants will be notified 30 days in advance of the event.

The mission of South Dakota Voices for Children is to improve the lives of children through policy and program advocacy.
